"it was verbally abusive, it was physically abusive"
In an interview, Somy Ali has said that she was in an “abusive” relationship with a huge Bollywood star, leading to speculation that she was talking about Salman Khan.
Although Ali did not name him, the couple were reportedly together for eight years between 1991 and 1999.
In the video, Ali explains: “I had a crush that was similar to Katie Holmes having a crush on Tom Cruise.
“I was one of those rare individuals who went to India to find him and marry him.
“I ended up dating him but the relationship was very abusive.
“And it was verbally abusive, it was physically abusive but I had grown up thinking that at 16, mom was abused too.”
Kamaal R Khan, known as KRK, shared a short clip from Ali’s interview with American journalist Tamika Bickham.
He captioned the video: “Whom, Somy Ali is accusing here?
“Who was hitting her? Can someone tell me please?”
Many social media users took to the comments and said she was talking about Salman Khan.

It comes after Ali previously responded to the question of why the pair had broken up. She had said:
“It’s been 20 years since I broke up with him.
“He cheated on me and I broke up with him and left. It’s as simple as that.”
After his relationship with her, Khan then dated Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for around two years before calling it quits in 2001.
In an interview with Times of India in 2002, the actress had said:
“There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks.”
“And, I would go to work as if nothing had happened.”
She later added: “The chapter of Salman Khan was a nightmare in my life”
Ali also recently applauded Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for lodging an FIR against domestic abuse. She had said:
“Kudos to Aishwarya Rai because she was the only woman who actually went out and filed an FIR against domestic violence.
“She was the only one, for lack of a better term, with the guts and the courage to go out and file a police complaint.
“I salute her for her courage and I respect her and commend her for taking that stand.”
KRK, who previously had a defamation lawsuit filed against him by Khan, later clarified that he did not mention any names when it came to who Somy Ali was talking about.

Born in Karachi, Somy Ali moved to Florida at the age of 12 with her mother and brother.
Inspired by her crush on Salman Khan, she convinced her mother to allow her to move to Mumbai.
Ali made her acting debut in 1994 with Anth opposite Suniel Shetty before appearing in several other films.
She has since quit acting and is now heavily involved in women’s rights issues in South Asia.
