"I definitely feel a lot more empowered with myself"

An adult content creator from Birmingham who dropped out of university to post X-rated content on OnlyFans is now earning £3,000 a month.

Caramel Baba was studying automotive engineering at Coventry University before he began posting on OnlyFans in 2022.

The 25-year-old said he was motivated by a “lack of representation” of gay Asian men in the industry.

He now posts content on MintStars, another adult video-sharing platform.

However, Caramel, who is of Pakistani heritage, admitted his career has left him “isolated” from some friends and family.

However, he said was able to find people with similar experiences on social media – an online community that he says saved his life.

Caramel said: “I definitely feel a lot more empowered with myself… [it’s] really helped me become more confident and more outspoken.”

He was in his final year at university in February 2022 when he decided to start posting on OnlyFans.

Caramel said his decision came from a lack of representation of gay Asian men in the sex industry and the media as a whole.

Speaking about the perks of being an adult content creator, Caramel said:

“I can take time off when I want to take time off, I don’t have to approve a holiday from anybody.

“I definitely feel a lot more empowered with myself.

“I’ve gone through a journey – there were times where it felt uncomfortable in the beginning but it’s something that I’ve had to address, like the shame and also not seeing my body as an enemy.

“And that’s what really helped me become more confident and more outspoken.”

When he began posting content, Caramel was yet to come out as gay to his family.

In 2023,  he decided to tell them and his wider community, something he found “very isolating”.

Caramel elaborated: “I think there’s such a huge generational divide.

“Even though you try to explain it to them they don’t really understand it fully.

“It’s very isolating because pretty much as soon as you come out, that’s it, you’re out.”

The reaction he received from friends was “more positive” and Caramel said he has found a social media community of people who are going through similar experiences.

He stated: “I’m lucky to have them, even though I’ve got a lot less (friends) because I think it’s scared a lot of people away.”

In August 2023, Caramel Baba left OnlyFans and joined MintStars, another platform.

He said he is now able to make even more money due to the platform only taking 5% of subscribers’ payments compared to OnlyFans taking 20% of creators’ earnings.

Caramel now makes a whopping £3,000 per month.
