"I think it is healthy to move on."
Former actress Somy Ali has revealed that she is no longer in touch with her ex Salman Khan, and is healthier because of it.
Ali and Khan had an eight-year-long relationship that began in 1991.
Now, in an interview, she has opened up about their time together.
According to Somy Ali, she was meant to make her acting debut opposite Salman Khan.
The film was called Buland, and the pair travelled to Kathmandu to shoot for it. However, the project soon fell through.
Ali referred to the short-lived film as a metaphor for her relationship with Khan. She said:
“Salman had just begun his home production and was looking for a leading lady to star opposite him in the film called Buland.
“We went to Kathmandu to shoot; unfortunately, I was too young and new in the industry and there was some problem with the producers and the film was shelved.
“So it was a metaphor for our relationship I would say.”
Somy Ali also revealed that she is no longer in contact with Salman Khan and that the decision to not be is healthier for her.
She said:
“I have not spoken to Salman in five years. I think it is healthy to move on.
“I have moved on and he has moved on too. I don’t know how many girlfriends he has had since I left in December 1999.
“I wish him all the best. I know his NGO is doing brilliant work and I am proud of his Being Human Foundation.
“Psychologically, it is healthier for me to not be in touch with him.”
“It is good to know he is in a good place and he’s happy, and that is all I care about.”
Although she no longer speaks to Salman Khan, this is not the first time Somy Ali has spoken about her relationship with him.
In an earlier interview, Ali revealed that Khan was unfaithful to her during their relationship.
However, she also admitted that she has now moved on.
Ali said: “We have moved on. It’s been 20 years since I broke up with him.
“He cheated on me and I broke up with him and left. It’s as simple as that.”
Although Somy Ali’s film career was short-lived, Salman Khan remains a prominent figure in the Bollywood industry.
However, he has recently been in hot water due to being accused of fraud alongside his sister Alvira Agnihotri Khan.
