"The Global Radio station would suit her"
Naga Munchetty, recently confirmed as the fourth highest-paid woman at the BBC, is reportedly set to leave BBC Breakfast for a rival broadcaster amid a bullying row at the show.
The broadcaster’s annual pay report revealed Naga earns between £355,000 and £359,999, significantly more than her BBC Breakfast co-host Charlie Stayt, who is in the £190,000-£194,999 bracket.
Naga’s earnings also include her role on BBC Radio 5 Live.
But despite her prominent position, it is reported that Naga has been linked to talks with rival broadcasters.
A source said: “Her team last week renewed talks with LBC.
“The Global Radio station would suit her as there’s far less of the fluffy nonsense that’s involved in working at the BBC.”
As reported by The Sun, her agents recently restarted discussions with LBC, following earlier approaches to both LBC and Sky News in June 2025.
The renewed interest in a career move coincides with ongoing turmoil at the BBC, triggered by a probe into bullying on the flagship morning programme.
Editor Richard Frediani, who has since returned to work, was investigated by an external consultant after complaints about his “draconian” management style and alleged misconduct.
One claim accused him of physically shaking a junior female editor in 2024.
In the fallout from the investigation, past complaints about Naga Munchetty’s own behaviour have resurfaced.
She has reportedly been reprimanded for bullying a junior colleague and making an inappropriate joke of a sexual nature.
She had also previously clashed with pop star Geri Horner during a programme appearance.
A source close to the situation said: “Naga loves the BBC and her job but there’s only so much external noise anyone is prepared to take.”
While Richard Frediani has faced multiple accusations, opinions remain divided within the BBC.
The source added: “Some workers backed Frediani’s tougher approach but others think he’s a bully.
“Similarly, some see Naga as a passionate advocate of others behind the scenes, while others find her just as difficult as Fredi.”
“Many feel only one of them will emerge unscathed and Naga’s job talks point to the fact she is close to admitting defeat.”
Naga Munchetty currently co-hosts BBC Breakfast three days a week alongside Charlie Stayt. Fellow presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay reportedly earn £200,000 and £240,000 respectively.
