"I was grossly let down by them."
Police have arrested a man after a viral video showed a waitress being struck with a plate inside a Nando’s restaurant.
The distressing footage captured a young woman serving customers at a branch in London before a man suddenly hit her in the face with a plate.
A 32-year-old man has now been arrested in connection with the incident.
The waitress, Zahra, spoke out on TikTok after the CCTV footage went viral.
She described feeling “grossly let down” by the Met Police and criticised their response to the “savage” attack.
The woman also acknowledged the “overwhelming support” she received in a seven-minute video.
She added: “So with all the attention that the video has gotten and seeing everything in the news about violence against women, violence against young women, the violence against girls, I think it’s important to speak up about what actually took place.
“Before explaining [what happened], I want to say what’s more concerning than the mass behaviour was the failure of the Metropolitan Police and their conduct.
“I was grossly let down by them. They have reopened the investigation now.
“Thanks for all of the support and the attention it’s been receiving online. And for that I’m grateful.
“However, I was really disappointed and let down with what happened at the time with the police.”
Cops have now confirmed an arrest, with a spokesperson saying:
“We are aware of a video circulating online showing an incident in a branch of Nando’s in Stratford which took place in March.
“A report of assault was made to police at the time of the incident.
“However, it appears this was not progressed promptly by officers.”
“We are working to establish why this happened and accept this is not the level of service Londoners should rightfully expect from the Met.”

Footage of the Nando’s waitress serving a man, woman and child circulated online in August 2024 but the incident happened in March.
But as the server placed the food on his table, the man slapped her across the face with a dinner plate.
The force of the blow sent the waitress backwards, leaving her holding her face.
Horrified diners turned around to see what happened while the shocked waitress left the scene as her attacker got up and walked away with the woman and child.
