Bengali actor Kharaj Mukherjee and his wife Pratibha Mukherjee are currently stranded in Nepal after heavy rains disrupted their shoot.
The couple had travelled to Pokhara, Nepal, on August 20, 2026, as part of a production team for a Bangladeshi film.
Concerns about their safety grew among fans and the media following the devastating floods and landslides that have struck Nepal.
The actor’s son Tamaghna Mukherjee addressed the growing worry by sharing a reassuring video update on Instagram.
He said: “My father’s name is Kharaj Mukherjee and my mother’s name is Pratibha Mukherjee.
“Both of them had gone to Nepal for a shoot.
“I have been receiving a lot of calls from their well-wishers and from the media.
“They were supposed to return on the 23rd after completing the shoot.
“But because the shoot was disrupted due to heavy rain, they could not return as planned.
“Their return has been delayed, but they are completely safe.”
He also addressed the volume of concern he had received from well-wishers and media since news of the disruption first emerged online.
He added: “To be honest, I have been receiving a huge number of messages and texts.
“So I decided to make this video and inform everyone that there is nothing to worry about.”
Tamaghna confirmed that he had spoken directly to his parents and that they were completely out of danger throughout the disruption.
He explained that their shoot location in Pokhara is situated at some distance from the worst of the flood-affected regions in Nepal.
However, the heavy and relentless rainfall in Pokhara significantly disrupted both their filming schedule and their planned return journey to India.
The couple had originally been scheduled to return on August 23, 2026, after completing their work on the Bangladeshi film production.
The backdrop to their delayed return is one of Nepal’s most catastrophic natural disasters in recent memory.
On August 26, 2026, part of a glacier collapsed high in the Himalayas, triggering devastating flooding along the Nepal-Tibet border.
The resulting flood surges and landslides swept through Nepal’s Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river regions with catastrophic force and speed.
According to the latest available reports, at least 547 people have died in the disaster while numerous others remain missing.
The scale of the tragedy has understandably caused widespread concern about everyone currently in Nepal.
