"I would have been paralysed with fear."

Katrina Kaif has spoken out strongly against body shaming and social media-driven expectations recently.

She said letting criticism dictate her choices could have left her “paralysed with fear.”

She was speaking in London at an event marking Kay Beauty’s UK anniversary celebration.

Kay Beauty is the beauty brand founded and led by Kaif herself.

During the event, Kaif addressed the scrutiny she has faced over her appearance lately.

This scrutiny particularly intensified after she became a mother in recent months.

She said: “We really need to be careful of letting the narrative on social media affect our self-worth and our value.”

Kaif emphasised that online reactions should never determine how people perceive themselves internally.

Her remarks came weeks after she attended the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai.

She attended the event alongside her husband Vicky Kaushal.

Photographs and videos from that event soon prompted comments about her weight and appearance.

These comments specifically focused on changes following her recent childbirth experience.

Kaif had welcomed her son back in November 2025, as per earlier reports.

The criticism also led to an outpouring of support from fans on social media.

Many fans challenged the body shaming directed specifically at new mothers online.

Filmmaker Soundarya Rajinikanth was among those who spoke out against this kind of judgement.

She criticised the tendency to judge women for natural changes following pregnancy.

Without naming anyone directly, Kaif reflected on how trying to satisfy everyone affects confidence.

She explained that this pressure could undermine a person’s ability to make independent decisions.

“Personally for me, if every time that I faced critiques or comments, I let that dictate my actions, I think I would have been paralysed with fear and unable to move ahead in my life or in any sphere of life.

“There are times when the world is going to celebrate you and other times you have to really be your own biggest cheerleader.”

Kaif also connected her remarks to Kay Beauty’s tagline, which promotes self-acceptance.

The tagline reads, “It’s K to be you,” encouraging people to embrace themselves fully.

Kaif acknowledged that confidence naturally fluctuates depending on different phases of life.

She said people go through periods where they feel their absolute best.

They also go through other periods where things feel more difficult to manage.

She said: “There are times when you feel like you’re acing everything in life, and there are other times when you feel like you just can’t get anything right.”

Kaif encouraged people to approach these ups and downs with a lighter perspective.

She said it was important to “wear it all lightly and not take yourself too seriously also and just have fun with it.”

The ongoing debate around Katrina Kaif’s appearance has also highlighted wider scrutiny faced by women.

This scrutiny particularly affects women navigating body changes after pregnancy in public life.
