Kangana Ranaut set to Act in Period Drama as Sita

Following the acclaim of her latest release Thalaivii (2021), Kangana Ranaut has announced her next movie endeavour.

The actress is set to play the role of goddess Sita in the upcoming period drama, The Incarnation Sita.

This is yet another interesting role for Kangna of Queen (2013) fame.

Alaukik Desai, the director of the drama, issued a statement about the film which has a universal concept.

He also mentions the involvement of the critically popular actress:

“A dream of a pious character never explored is now a reality. I am ecstatic to bring Kangana Ranaut on board as Sita.

“This pious journey will change the course of how we perceive our mythology. Thank you SS Studio for your immense support and belief.”

Producer Saloni Sharma shared sentinments:

“As a woman, I couldn’t be happier in welcoming Ms Kangana Ranaut on board our VFX magnum opus, ‘The Incarnation Sita’.

“Kangana symbolizes the spirit and essence of the Indian woman – fearless, daunting and daring.

“It’s time we stepped in to celebrate equality in every respect.”

The Thalaivii actress had previously been nominated to play the role of Sita by the writer of the drama. This is the same film that was reportedly offered to Kareena Kapoor.

Kangana shared a poster of the upcoming film on her Instagram story and also thanked the director for giving her the opportunity.

Thalaivii is a 2021 Indian biographical drama film based on the life of Indian actress-politician J. Jayalalithaa.

As well as The Incarnation Sita, Kangana Ranaut will also be seen in Tejas. Written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara, this film will show Kangana taking on the role of an air force pilot.

In March 2021, Kangana won the National Film Award for her performances in Manikarnika: The Queen of Jansi (2019) and Panga (2020).

The award-winning actress has also appeared in Dhaakad (2021) and will feature also in Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda.

Besides her progressing career, Kangana failed to make an appearance before the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on September 14, 2021 regarding the Javed Akhtar defamation case.

The actress managed to avoid an arrest warrant. However, if she fails to appear on September 20, 2021, another will be issued against her.
