The trailer of Jawaani Jaaneman released on Thursday, 9 January 2020, promising an adventurous journey filled with laughter and shock.
The upcoming film stars Saif Ali Khan as a playboy, Tabu as a hippie and Alaya Furniturewala as their daughter.
Alaya is set to make her Bollywood debut with Jawaani Jaaneman. The actress is the daughter of the former Bollywood star Pooja Bedi and granddaughter of actor Kabir Bedi.
After releasing numerous exciting posters, the filmmakers unveiled the 2 minutes and 30 seconds long trailer.
The trailer begins with Farida Jalal questioning her son (Saif) on why he has not settled down and whether he is gay.
We get a glimpse of Saif’s casanova lifestyle full of carelessness and partying. This reminds viewers of Saif’s character, Gautam Kapoor, that we all know and love in Cocktail (2012).
Then viewers are introduced to Alaya who gives Saif the shock of his life as she reveals she is his daughter.
Along with discovering he has a daughter that he never knew existed, Alaya discloses that she is also pregnant.
Audiences will get the chance to see Tabu, who is Alaya’s mother, in a new avatar. She revealed she could not be bothered to tell Saif about their daughter as she “hates phone calls.”
Jawaani Jaaneman will reunite Tabu and Saif after 21 years. Tabu’s refreshing character is like a breath of fresh air for the film.
According to Hindustan Times, Tabu revealed why she said yes to Jawaani Jaaneman. She said:
“Since I have been playing dark roles off-late, the character I play in Jawaani Jaaneman is absolutely refreshing.
“I love the script when I read it and I definitely wanted to do this at first go.”
The trailer shows snippets of how Saif’s life has been turned upside down. He struggles to come to terms with his situation.
The father-daughter duo also shares heart-touching moments despite their complicated relationship.
Nitin Kakkar, the director of Jawaani Jaaneman expressed his joy about the film. He said:
“Working on Jawaani Jaaneman has been an immense pleasure, not only because of the amazing team it has but also because of the wonderful story it tells.
“It is truly a coming-of-age film with a 2020 vibe. While Tabu is going to be seen in an interesting role, Alaya also has done a wonderful job and Saif was simply commendable.
“In fact, the poster has only brought out his character’s true vibe.”
The poster of Saif’s character was shared by producer Jackky Bhagnani on Twitter with the caption: “Adding some flavour to this festive season!”
In the poster Saif is shown lying in bed with two women, wearing nothing but a Playboy bunny necklace.
His face is not visible but he is holding an alcohol bottle in one hand, which is dripping onto the floor.

There is no doubt that this poster is a perfect representation of the character we are introduced to in the trailer.
Producer Jackky Bhagnani spoke about the excitement of the upcoming film. He said:
“A fresh script, a fresh cast and a coming together of a fresh team. So expect the unexpected.”
“Without giving away much about the film, the only thing I will say is that if you have laughed, cried or enjoyed with your family, that’s exactly what you will do with our film!
“Nitin sir, with his unique talent to say the best of the stories in the most relatable manner, has truly made a film that we are proud of.
“I hope the audience loves this film as much as we do.”
