Indian Wife kidnaps British Indian Husband for Rs 15 Lakh

A 64-year-old British Indian man, Pritpal Singh Plah, was kidnapped by his recently wedded wife. Rajni Sharma, a 40-year-old Indian woman.

Plah married the 24 years his junior Rajni, in March 2018. Rajni is Plah’s second wife and he married her after divorcing his first wife.

Soon after his marriage to Sharma, Plah began to notice his foreign currency disappearing.

He began to suspect his wife, Jalandhar based wife, Rajni of theft.

Plah said:

“I did not talk to my wife later as I suspected that she got married to me to usurp my money and property.”

Plah decided to get to the bottom of this issue. He took a flight to India on November 4, 2018.

Upon landing at the Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi, India he attempted to get a taxi with the aims to confront his wife.

He had not notified her of his trip. So he was quite surprised when Rajni, his mother-in-law and three other accomplices forced themselves into the taxi, as reported by The Tribune.

Plah recalling the events to police said:

“The moment I sat in the car, my wife and the other suspects also boarded the taxi and they forcibly took me to Dakoha in Jalandhar.”

After being taken hostage Plah was held in a remote location by his wife and her comrades for five days. He was beaten until he submitted to pay a ransom of Rs 15 lakh.

The Kidnappers finally allowed Plah out of the confines of the Dakoha location. They took him to a bank where they expected him to withdraw the money.

However, Plah ingeniously found a way to seek help. Upon arriving at the State Bank of India’s Non-Resident Indian Branch in Fountain Chowk, Plah saw a way out of this mess.

While he was expected to withdraw the Rs 15 lakh out from the bank, he used the request form to instead flag the fact he had been kidnapped.

He wrote upon the form:

“Call the police I am kidnapped.”

Having handed this over to a female clerk, she took action by alerting the branch manager of the situation.

Rajni and her accomplices realised that they had been caught out and fled the bank scene immediately.

Plah has filed a complaint with Punjab’s police over this kidnapping ordeal.

Besides Rajni the group of Kidnappers has been identified to include; Gurpreet Singh, Babbu, alias Bablu; Rajni’s mother and Pawan, all residents of Dakoha, Jalandhar.

The investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Manjit Singh has confirmed that police are searching for the group of five who are currently absconding authorities.
