she would subject him and his parents to physical and mental torture.
On Thursday, September 17, 2020, an Indian man sought police protection from his wife.
He alleged that she was an alcoholic who abuses him physically and mentally. According to an official, the unnamed man contacted Khokhra Police Station and asked them for protection.
The 29-year-old man is from Maninagar area in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.
The victim also said that his wife was abusive towards his parents.
According to the man, he had been in a relationship with the woman and they eventually got married in March 2018. However, unbeknown to him, she was an alcoholic and he only found out after getting married.
He said that whenever his wife gets drunk, she would subject him and his parents to physical and mental torture.
She would also visit him at his workplace and create a ruckus.
In his application, the man said he was pressured by his wife to leave his elderly parents and move into a new home.
In June 2020, the man’s parents contracted Covid-19. This prompted him to return to their home in order to look after them.
His wife stayed on the first floor of the house but never helped take care of her in-laws.
During the difficult times, she demanded for the ownership of the house to be transferred to her. According to the husband, she threatened to take her own life unless they did what she requested.
A police official said that the complainant had alleged that his wife submitted a false police complaint against him and his parents at Khokhra Police Station sometime in June.
She filed another complaint on September 11, 2020, alleging that her husband and in-laws subjected her to cruelty.
However, her husband has said that his wife still lives on the first floor, beats him after consuming alcohol and then dials the women’s helpline to make false allegations against him.
In his application to the police, the Indian man stated that his elderly parents would be at the mercy of his alcoholic wife if something were to happen to him.
After going through such a prolonged ordeal, he has sought police protection for his and his parents’ safety.
Khokhra Police Station Inspector YS Gamit said that the police will take appropriate action after thoroughly examining and verifying the details mentioned in the application.
In another case of domestic abuse, a man uploaded a video, explaining that his wife beat him and prevented him from speaking to family and friends.
