"I now fear for my life."
A Nawabshah man sought the protection of the police after his wife physically assaulted him in a domestic dispute.
The husband made a distressing appeal to local law enforcement officials.
He expressed deep concerns for his safety. He suffered a head injury, and his sleeve was torn.
The man was visibly distraught as he asked for the intervention of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Nawabshah.
In a harrowing statement provided to the authorities, he made startling revelations.
He alleged: “My wife has physically assaulted me, and I now fear for my life.
“I humbly request the authorities to provide me with protection.”
He elucidated the distressing encounters he had faced and underscored his increasing dread.
He continued: “I went to withdraw money from Shah Faisal bank. I withdrew 20-25k.
“She demanded that I give all the money to her.
“I said that we need to get groceries and things for our kids. Hearing that, she grabbed me by my shirt and tore it.
“She then proceeded to take all the money from my pocket.
“I let her have the money because money isn’t more important than respect. But she hit me with a rolling pin.
“She beat me like the police beat up drug addicts.
“I went to the ladies’ police, but no one took me seriously. They did not listen to what I had to say.
“She has assaulted me, and I cannot even sit now because of the pain. My demand is that they provide me with security.
“If the SSP and the government don’t provide me security, my dead body will be found in a gutter.”
Local law enforcement agencies duly acknowledged the grievances of the Nawabshah man.
They assured him that they would take decisive measures to guarantee his safety.
This particular incident garnered significant attention. Netizens highlighted that domestic violence can victimise people of any sex.
One user said: “Physical violence is never justified. No one deserves it.”
Another commented: “If it was a woman, it would be, ‘Oh, that’s so bad. Women’s rights, women’s rights. But if it’s a man, it would be, ‘Oh, deserved it’.”
One user questioned asked: “Where are the feminists now?”
This incident is not limited to the Nawabshah man.
