The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has axed the intimate scenes in Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming film, Love Aaj Kal (2020) as well as significantly reducing many other scenes.

The highly-anticipated film stars Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan in lead roles. Their sizzling chemistry in the onscreen trailer as well as off-screen promotions has captivated fans worldwide.

Love Aaj Kal (2020) comes over ten years after Imtiaz Ali’s namesake film in 2009 starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.

The romantic drama film explores the portrayal of love with two couples. One couple in 1990 compared to the contemporary notion of love with the second couple in 2020.

Love Aaj Kal (2020) is due to release on Valentine’s Day and the filmmakers are hoping it will attract a young audience.

However, the CBFC has become an obstacle to the film’s portrayal of contemporary love. They have forced filmmakers to make numerous changes.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Love Aaj Kal (2020) received its CBFC certificate on February 5, 2020.

The film was reduced to a total length of 2 hours and 21 minutes and got a U/A certificate.

As a result of the U/A certificate, the filmmakers have had to remove numerous intimate and kissing scenes.

The report mentioned that a kissing scene at the very beginning of the film has been removed. Another lovemaking sequence has been significantly reduced and revised to a flash.

The CBFC also commanded that the visuals of cleavage shown after the intimate scene must be blurred.

They continued to instruct the filmmakers to remove a scene where the actors were undressing in the second half of the film.

The report went on to mention that a sexually abusive word was replaced with a less objectionable term “a**”.

Also, offensive words like “f**k” and “f*****g” had to be censored while “har***zaadon” was changed to “saale besharmo”.

Love Aaj Kal (2020) will also feature actor Randeep Hooda and actress Arushi Sharma in pivotal roles.

The film aims to showcase how the notion of love has changed over time with the two couples from different eras.

Despite the CBFC forcing the filmmakers to make several changes to Love Aaj Kal (2020), we hope it is still be able to successfully showcase the representation of contemporary love.

Get ready to enjoy Valentine’s Day with Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal (2020).
