Harpreet Kaur, who won The Apprentice in 2022, has been announced as a new addition to BBC Asian Network.

The entrepreneur will be the new host of the radio show The Everyday Hustle.

It will be broadcast on Mondays at 6 am from April 15, 2024.

Confirming the news on Instagram, BBC Asian Network wrote:

“@harpsi_kaur will be joining the Asian Network as the new host of The Everyday Hustle (Mondays, 6 am).

“Her first show will broadcast on 15 April.

“@sonyabarlowuk’s last show will be on March 25.

“Welcome to the family Harpreet, and thank you for everything Sonya.”

Users were quick to welcome Harpreet Kaur to the radio station.

Virdi Singh Mazaria, a former candidate on The Apprentice 2024, commented: “Go on!”

A staple of BBC Asian Network, Haroon Rashid, added:

“Congratulations @harpsi_kaur, you’ll be great and @sonyabarlowuk, you’ve been brilliant.”

Harpreet’s fiancee, Akshay Thakrar, simply posted a series of fiery emojis.

The Apprentice aired its 16th series in 2022. Harpreet entered the competition as a co-owner of dessert parlour business.

She ended up winning Lord Alan Sugar’s investment of £250,000.

The pair went on to own Harpreet’s business Oh So Yum together.

The business has stores in Bradford, Huddersfield and Leeds.

In August 2023, it was confirmed that Harpreet had bought back her shares from Lord Sugar in a reportedly mutual decision.

In May 2023, Harpreet and Akshay announced their engagement. They had featured in The Apprentice together.

In a previous interview, Harpreet opened up about the challenges she faced while filming the show.

She said: “I really struggled with the cameras. I wasn’t big on social media and I wasn’t an influencer.

“I was quite naive at the fact that actually, I’m going to have to fall into the public eye, and I kind of forgot about that element.

“Lord Sugar isn’t interested in any b*******. If you are faking it, he will know.

“The show really uncovers when someone doesn’t actually have the skills that say they have.”

“When you apply for the show, of course, you’re going to say you’re the best at sales and the best at negotiation.

“But you’ve also got to be able to walk the walk. You are put under extreme pressure but if you can’t perform well under pressure, you haven’t got a real chance in the world of business.”

The Apprentice is currently airing its 18th series on BBC One.

Meanwhile, Harpreet Kaur has previously appeared on BBC Asian Network as a guest.
