"Your time in this process is over"

Virdi Singh Mazaria ended up as the latest candidate to be fired from the The Apprentice.

The Leicester-based music producer did not have a successful run in Lord Alan Sugar’s business competition, losing every task.

In the challenge broadcast on March 14, 2024, Lord Sugar sent the candidates to Budapest, Hungary and tasked them with selling and running a bespoke tour.

Both teams had to sell 16 tickets and the customers could ask for refunds if the tour did not meet their expectations.

Virdi Singh Mazaria was in Team Supreme and put himself forward to be Project Manager, but Rachel Woolford won the position.

Rachel placed Virdi on the selling sub-team despite him wanting to be part of the group that led the tour.

Team Supreme had a promising start, negotiating the price of their tour tickets down to €350 (£298.75) from an original price of €960 (£820).

The rival team, Nexus, spent €66 (£56) more than them.

However, problems arose when it came to selling tickets to the public which saw Virdi struggle along with Phil Turner and Foluso Falade.

They started selling tickets at €115 (£98.16) per person but ended up spending hours in a poor location.

Running out of time, the three candidates were forced to whittle their prices down to €35 (£29.87) per person. Eventually, they sold 15 out of 16 tickets.

Team Supreme’s tour led to a total profit of €660.50 (ÂŁ563.78) with no refunds.

On the other hand, Team Nexus also managed to avoid refunds but with a higher profit of €1,170 (£998.68).

Virdi Singh Mazaria was brought back into the final boardroom as the final three along with Project Manager Rachel and sub-team leader Foluso.

Defending himself, the 24-year-old addressed Lord Sugar directly and said:

“The way your character is, I really feel you look at me as a younger version of you.

“Because I’ve got that craze and that drive to work hard.”

Ultimately, Virdi was fired for displaying poor logistics in the task and the fact that he had been on the losing team for every task so far in the process.

Lord Sugar told him: “Virdi, seven tasks, seven losses.

“You are a charming young man, but I think your time in this process is over.”

As Virdi left the boardroom, the business magnate said: “Stay in touch.”

In his exit monologue, Virdi enthused: “Lord Sugar said that I really made the people around me proud.

“And he also said, ‘Stay in touch’, so get me his WhatsApp number because I’m going to message him every day.”

Back at the candidate house, the remaining candidates regretted Virdi’s elimination, with Tre Lowe commenting:

“The house will not be the same without Virdi.”

Off-screen, Virdi delved into his motivation in The Apprentice and discussed his respect for Lord Sugar.

He explained: “What I used to motivate me was the fact that when you are losing, you are not really losing unless you are getting fired.

“More time in the boardroom was more time to get to know Lord Sugar and more time for him to get to know me.

“I’m so happy that we created our bond and I strongly believe he has a soft spot for me.

“Lord Sugar is such a successful businessman and it comes from his resilience and his hard work.

“As an entrepreneur, that’s how I am too. Growing up I was doing a lot of different things and I had a lot of different businesses to try to find the one that was going to make me the most money – like Lord Sugar.

“I think he saw that determination in me because losing seven times and still be there and the fact he didn’t fire me. I think he has some respect for me.

“I would 100% reach out to Lord Sugar in the future. He’s not really said to anyone else to ‘stay in touch’ since the process started and I’ll definitely take him up on that offer.

“But only when it’s right – I’m not gonna message him to just ask him to go watch the football on the weekend.

“When I need proper business advice, hopefully he has the time to chat with me.

“There definitely is a friendship element there because when I told him that ‘he sees himself in me’, he had a nice little smile.

“When it comes to business, I’m sure we can make it work.

“But for now I’m on my own journey and I’m going to see how far I can take it.”

Revealing his highlight of the process, Virdi continued:

“Genuinely the highlight of the process for me was being in front of three successful business people: Lord Sugar, Karren Brady and Tim Campbell.

“Being able to talk about whatever I wanted to them and them giving me the time of day to listen was special.”

Adding that he would maintain cordial relations with his fellow candidates, he said:

“I knew if I didn’t win the process, I wanted to stay in touch and I wanted him to appreciate me for who I am.

“Before I told all the candidates, ‘Guys, listen, if I’m getting fired and I don’t win the show, I’m gonna get the keep in touch’.”

Divulging into what can be expected from him in the future, the music producer concluded:

“We’ve got new music coming out, DJ tours and I wanna be on TV again – fast.

“So let’s just say this is not the last you see of Virdi Singh Mazaria.”
