“I’ve been a petrol head for as long as I’ve been making people laugh"
Guz Khan says he’s been a “petrol head” all his life as his brand-new TV show about the world of car modification is set to hit screens on January 19.
Guz Khan’s Custom Cars will be aired on Quest at 9 pm, with eight weekly episodes, streaming on Discovery+.
The show will see the comedian explore different types of car modifications, meeting car enthusiasts and attempting to modify a car, the Honda S2000.
He will be joined by his best friend Lumboo and mechanic expert Darryn.
Guz told DESIblitz that he “loves cars more than food” and people should watch the show because they have “given life to a genre that needed a little reboot”.

He said: “I’ve been a petrol head for as long as I’ve been making people laugh, so since 1986 basically. I love cars more than food. And you know how chunky I am.”
Lumboo has known Guz for over 20 years, during which Guz spoke about his filming experience alongside him.
Guz added: “I’ve got two friends who’ve been with me through thick and thin.
“Being able to bring your boy through after 25 years of mucking about and have him share this journey was beautiful.
“Even if he’s the biggest ‘party pooper Asian uncle’ you’ve ever met. You’ll see.”
Guz Khan, originally from Hillfields in Coventry, was spotted in the city’s Fargo Village in summer 2025 filming the show and described the place as “surreal” and “beautiful”.
He said: “You realise how far you’ve come when making television at home.
“The love, the energy. It was my favourite night of filming by far. Long live Coventry.”
Guz explained that the city of Coventry is “home” and “always will be”.
He explained: “We’re a working-class city with fun, danger, and a statue of a lady fully naked and a little Peeping Tom who pops out of a clock every hour to peek at her. Mad city mate.”

Guz was a former teacher at Grace Academy and started publishing comedy videos online, which kick-started his comedy career.
He performed at BBC Asian Network’s Big Comedy Night in 2015 and has also performed at Live at the Apollo.
He is known for his role in BBC’s Man Like Mobeen, a Muslim man who is juggling his life, faith and friendships while trying to avoid going to prison and his past life in the drug-dealing world.
Guz Khan’s Custom Cars will air every Monday at 9 pm on Quest for eight weeks.
