"And will he convince his friends to join him?"
Guz Khan’s Man Like Mobeen is back for a final series, and the acclaimed BBC Three comedy will be on screens very soon.
The show, created by and starring Guz Khan, follows former drug dealer Mobeen as he tries to lead an honest life in Small Heath, Birmingham.
First airing in 2017, the series has won praise for its sharp humour and authentic portrayal of British Muslim life.
This final instalment sees Mobeen out of prison and reunited with his old crew.
According to the synopsis: “In the final series, Mobeen must save Aqsa but can he even get a passport or a plane ticket to the UAE?
“And will he convince his friends to join him?”
The fifth series will air on May 1, 2025, at 9 pm.
Filming for the final season began in 2024, with scenes shot in both Coventry and Turkey.
Across six new episodes, the show promises an action-packed finale that picks up after Mobeen was attacked in prison at the end of series four.
Guz previously explained that this would be the last time he returns to the role, revealing the fifth series has been written for his fans.
He said: “I can’t even shop at Aldi without someone popping out from behind the bread aisle and asking me when there’s going to be more Man Like Mobeen.
“So, for you, and only for you, here’s one, final, very last, never to be done again season of Man Like Mobeen.
“Please don’t make me make any more, I got loads of kids to raise and that.”
Returning cast members include Salman Akhtar as Saj, Duaa Karim as Mobeen’s sister Aqsa, Mark Silcox as Uncle Shady, Korkmaz Arslan as Turkish barber Emre, and Hussina Raja as Nida.
Guz Khan co-wrote the series with long-time collaborator Andy Milligan. The pair were named Best Writers for three consecutive years at the RTS Midlands Awards.
The show previously won Best Comedy at the 2020 Broadcast Digital Awards and was nominated for Best Comedy at the 2021 BAFTAs.
Its fourth series drew an average audience of 1.1 million, making it the top-performing BBC Three comedy of 2023.
The six-episode season will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
