“A special film like Bhagam Bhag deserves a sequel"

Bhagam Bhag 2, the sequel to the 2006 comedy classic directed by Priyadarshan, has been confirmed.

This exciting project comes 18 years after the original film, sparking excitement among fans.

The first film starred Bollywood icons Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal.

Over the years, Bhagam Bhag has attained cult status, partly thanks to its growing popularity on social media.

Clips from the film are often seen being used in memes and reels.

The sequel of Bhagam Bhag is being produced by Sarita Ashwin Varde.

According to reports, the rights for the film were recently acquired from Shemaroo Entertainment.

It is believed that Sarita is also working on the sequel’s script, which is in the final stage.

Sarita, who has played a key creative role in numerous productions alongside her husband, Ashwin Varde, is no stranger to big hits.

Her previous projects include Boss, Kabir Singh, OMG 2, and Khel Khel Mein.

Sarita shared her thoughts on reviving the franchise:

“A special film like Bhagam Bhag deserves a sequel that’s just as special. When the time was right, we decided to take the plunge.”

Reports indicate that the production is scheduled to begin in mid-2025.

The original film remains one of Priyadarshan’s most iconic movies to date.

It holds a significant place in Akshay Kumar’s illustrious comedy portfolio alongside hits like Hera Pheri and Welcome.

For the sequel, the makers are determined to live up to the high expectations, with Hiren Gada, CEO of Shemaroo Entertainment, confirming:

“We are excited to partner with an incredible team to create a film that will continue the legacy of its predecessor by bringing more laughter, fun, and entertainment.”

The details of Bhagam Bhag 2’s plot have been kept under wraps.

However, the producers have teased that it will be “madder, crazier, and funnier” than its predecessor.

Further announcements regarding the cast and crew are expected soon, fuelling anticipation for what promises to be a blockbuster return to the franchise.

A fan wrote: “I really hope it returns with the same cast. I can’t wait to see the reunion of this iconic trio; Bunty, Babla and Champak Seth in Bhagam Bhag 2.

Another said: “This is going to be the sequel of the decade! So excited for this!”

One commented: “OMG this is the best news. The game is about to begin!”
