Filmmaker Christopher Nolan launched The Odyssey in Mumbai on July 10, 2026, alongside major Hollywood stars.

The film’s Indian premiere took place with actors Tom Holland and Matt Damon present together.

The three addressed the assembled audience and thanked viewers for providing the warm reception.

Nolan expressed his long-held desire to finally bring one of his films to India.

Tom Holland praised the exceptional energy and enthusiasm that Indian moviegoers display in cinema halls.

Matt Damon stated that the response meant tremendously because this was the first real audience.

The audience had gathered to watch the film after an earlier premiere for families exclusively.

The Mumbai launch marked Nolan’s first opportunity to premiere one of his films in the city.

The Odyssey will have its India premiere on July 10 and 11 over two days.

Universal Pictures International has included Mumbai as one of the official stops on the tour.

London, Paris and New York are the other major cities included on the global premiere tour.

Speaking at the event, Nolan told the audience directly about this significant achievement:

“This is not the first time I’ve been in Mumbai, but it is the first time I’ve had a chance to launch a film here.

“So you are amongst the first audiences in the world to see this film.”

He then added a playful remark about his two lead actors in the production:

“Just a quick, who was better, Matt or Tom? They are both fantastic.”

Nolan also expressed his gratitude to the audience for turning up in large numbers.

He said it was always a tremendous thrill to be in India, visiting the country.

He mentioned that he had visited India twice before his current visit to the nation.

Every visit to India had been special and memorable for him personally overall.

He had long wanted to launch one of his films here and watch it with audiences.

He described Indian audiences as some of the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable cinematic audiences globally.

Their appreciation for cinema and deep engagement with films is truly exceptional and remarkable.

Tom Holland also thanked the crowd assembled there for providing such a warm welcome.

He said Indian audiences always received them with warmth, happiness, excitement, grace and love.

No one brought energy to a cinema hall quite like audiences in India overall.

He thanked them specifically for supporting Nolan’s work and his directorial vision consistently.

Holland also made an interesting comment about future possibilities, saying:

“I cannot wait for this movie to be a sequel.”

The remark suggested excitement about potential future instalments in the franchise if successful.

Matt Damon called the moment wonderful and significant for everyone involved in the production.

He explained that they had already held a premiere at an earlier stage.

That earlier screening was specifically held for family members and close friends only.

This Mumbai event represented the first time they stood before a real audience.

The theatrical release is scheduled for July 17, 2026, across Indian cinemas.
