Cast members reflected on their time working together.
A gathering of veteran and emerging Bangladeshi artistes recently offered a glimpse into an upcoming original Chorki series, Aatka.
Present at the gathering were Abul Hayat, Rosey Siddiqui, Saberi Alam, Mousumi Nag, Arosh Khan, Sunerah Binte Kamal, Shohel Mondol, and Fariha Rahman.
Influencer, writer, and vocalist Raba Khan was also part of the conversation, acting as a natural bridge between generations.
Abul Hayat described the get-together as a ‘family adda,’ a phrase that quickly gained meaning as details emerged.
All those present will appear as members of the same extended family in Aatka, set to premiere at midnight on January 14, 2026.
Chorki has chosen a family-focused story layered with twists to open the year.
Directed by Arafat Mohsin Nidhi, Aatka is written by Raba Khan, who developed the story, screenplay, and dialogues.
The project marks the first series creation for both Nidhi and Raba, making it a significant professional milestone.
According to the creators, the title Aatka comes from a local word often used to describe something sudden or abrupt.
The word repeatedly surfaced during their conversations and eventually felt inseparable from the tone of the story.
During the informal discussion, cast members reflected on their time working together on the series.
Saberi Alam described the experience as deeply enjoyable, while Rosey Siddiqui called it a full-fledged family drama.
Abul Hayat summarised the project as family fun, and Sunerah Binte Kamal simply described it as fun.
The mood stayed light as actors joked about their on-screen roles and personalities.
Mousumi Nag teased that Rosey Siddiqui considered herself the heroine of the story.
Abul Hayat declared himself the hero, while Arosh Khan was humorously labelled the junior hero.
Sunerah hinted at playing a flamboyant character, while Shohel Mondol chose to keep his role mysterious.
The adda soon turned into laughter-filled exchanges about moments from the shoot.
Saberi Alam recalled a mix-up where Tushar Khan mistakenly thought she was his wife instead of his elder brother’s wife.
Despite the emotional tone of the scene, the confusion led to uncontrollable laughter on set.
Abul Hayat added that Tushar, who rarely gets a wife in dramas, became confused after finally having one.
Rosey Siddiqui shared that working with fellow senior artistes after a long gap brought immense joy.
Arosh Khan said his biggest challenge was performing his first scene opposite Abul Hayat.
The pressure made him fall ill the night before shooting, a story that drew laughter.
Abul Hayat joked that he always carried paracetamol for such situations.
The concept for Aatka was first developed by Raba Khan and Arafat Mohsin Nidhi in 2023.
While initially planned as a family drama, elements of horror comedy were gradually introduced.
Scene-by-scene synopses were completed by late 2024, with final development after partnering with Chorki.
Arafat Mohsin Nidhi shared that he had long wanted to direct a large ensemble of actors he had grown up watching.
He expressed gratitude that every first-choice actor agreed to join, despite having no prior personal connections.
