Acclaimed filmmaker Gias Uddin Selim is set to make his return to Chorki with Perfect Wife, a romantic comedy.
The film will begin streaming on October 23, 2025, giving audiences a fresh take on modern relationships wrapped in humour.
Perfect Wife follows the story of two young couples whose married lives intersect during a house visit, leading to unexpected tensions.
Though love exists between the pairs, subtle conflicts begin to surface, raising questions about the expectations placed on marriage.
The trailer, released on October 20, 2025, teases lighthearted moments that unravel into deeper themes surrounding the idea of perfection.
Director Gias Uddin Selim stated the story examines how some men define a “perfect wife” by rigid personal expectations.
He noted that the film aims to challenge this masculine viewpoint while maintaining a playful and entertaining tone for the audience.
According to Gias, perfection itself is a flawed concept, especially when it’s defined by one partner in a relationship.
He said: “The story isn’t meant to justify the word ‘perfect’.”
Known for celebrated works like Monpura, Swapnajaal, Paap Punno, and Kajol Rekha, Gias brings fresh energy to short-form content.
Asked why he chose this format, Gias shared his belief that a director should explore every kind of storytelling medium possible.
This project brings together emerging talent, with the cinematographer, editor, and music director all working in fiction for the first time.
The film stars Sudip Biswas Deep and Ariana Zaman as one couple, and Mir Rabby with Zopari Lushai playing the other.
Except for Sudip Biswas Deep, this is the first time the cast members have worked under Gias’ direction, and all shared their excitement.
Sudip said his character is the entitled son of a lawyer who may have everything, yet still lacks personal understanding.
He emphasised that the story is not about defining perfection but exploring the illusions and humour around that very expectation.
His co-star Ariana plays a lawyer who manages both legal and household responsibilities, offering a contrast to his carefree lifestyle.
Ariana mentioned that this is her first project with Gias, and her character is quite different from her real personality.
Mir Rabby described the project as a satire of common societal tendencies, packed with situational comedy and layered characters.
He explained that comedy requires precision not only in dialogue but also in editing, timing, and performance to land effectively.
Zopari Lushai’s character speaks multiple languages, hinting at a surprising role that takes an even more unexpected turn by the end.
She said: “This character was completely unexpected for me. I believe the audience will also be quite surprised when they see it.
“And the ending is even more astonishing.”
Perfect Wife, produced by Alpha-i in collaboration with Chorki, marks the platform’s fourth venture into flash fiction storytelling.
With its humorous lens on serious themes and a cast of rising stars, the film promises both laughter and thoughtful reflection.
