“This is a totally new experience for our valued customers"

Chaiiwala has launched the UK’s first-ever Indian drive-thru restaurant, serving a variety of street food, hot and cold drinks and an all-day breakfast.

The Midlands-based business originally started in Delhi in 1927, before it began serving Indian-inspired food and drink in the UK in 2016.

Since then, more than 70 stores have opened around the country.

But the new one on Manchester Road, Bolton, is the first to have a drive-thru.

The extensive menu offers breakfast and lunch snacks including an all-day Desi Breakfast and Sweet Bombay Toast.

There are also street food dishes such as Aloo Tikki Burgers, a Chilli Chip Butty, Chilli Paneer and Mumbai Mac ‘n’ Cheese.

Diners can also choose from a selection of hot and cold drinks, including a Garam Chocolate, a Rose Falooda or Chaiiwala’s famous Karak Chaii.

The drive-thru has a height restriction sign which reads:

“Chaii is the limit.”

Co-founder Sohail Ali: “This is extremely exciting news for Bolton and the UK in general as this is the first time the Chaiiwala brand has been created as a drive-thru concept.

“This is a totally new experience for our valued customers and the first time they can experience our Indian street food in a drive-thru setting.

“This is the first time we have offered this concept and are delighted with the results.

“Using this blueprint we are now actively searching for new drive-thru locations across the UK which will replicate the Bolton store model.

“We have built the Chaiiwala brand on a mixture of providing original Indian street food with the best customer service, with the aim of providing a unique experience.

“Our drive-thru concept will allow customers to experience our products in a faster format while also having the ability to visit the store.

“This has proved extremely successful and popular with our customers so far and a model we are actively pursuing for new stores across the UK.”

After announcing the launch of the new drive-thru in partnership with EG Group on social media, fans flooded into the comments section to show their support and put in their destination requests.

One user wrote:

“Amazing!! Game changer right here.”

Another said: “Taking over the world!”

One person described the restaurant as their “new local”.

One requested for a drive-thru to be built more locally to them, writing:

“I’ve been waiting for this!! But it needs to be in West London!!!”

A user said: “This should be in Scotland too!!”
