Several Bangladeshi films that were originally slated for an Eid-ul-Azha release are now gearing up to hit cinemas during Durga Puja.

Titles like Nadan, Sardar Barir Khela, Shironaam, and Pinik were all withdrawn from the Eid lineup right before the holiday.

Most of these projects are now being repositioned to make the most of the festive September window.

Nadan, directed by Farhad Hossain, was officially announced for an Eid-ul-Azha release, with the unveiling of its first-look poster.

However, just days before Eid, Hossain revealed that unforeseen technical complications had delayed the film’s completion.

The director said: “Although we had initially planned for Eid, some technical issues held us back.

“Now we’re targeting a Durga Puja release. If all goes according to plan, the film will premiere on September 26.”

The film stars Shamol Mawla, supported by Arfan Mredha Shiblu, Rakib Hossain Evan, Jewel Jahur, Roshan Sharif, and others.

Similarly, Pinik, a psychological thriller by Jahid Jewel, missed its Eid window due to incomplete VFX work.

The film features Ador Azad and Shobnom Bubly in key roles.

It has a seasoned supporting cast that includes Ali Raj, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Momena Chowdhury, and Azad Abul Kalam.

Jewel explained that they chose not to rush the post-production process:

“We’re now aiming for Durga Puja. A final date will be shared soon at a press event.”

Another film, Sardar Barir Khela, which received a government grant, is also planning for a Durga Puja debut.

Directed by Rakhal Sabuj, the film stars Ziaul Roshan, Bubly, and Azad Abul Kalam.

While the team hasn’t officially confirmed the release date, insiders suggest that preparations are well underway, and an announcement is expected soon.

Shironaam, directed by Anik Biswas, was nearly completed when it was announced for Eid.

However, with five to six days of filming still left, the makers opted not to rush the final product.

Biswas stated:

“We could have hurried the process, but we didn’t want to compromise.”

While its release date remains unconfirmed, the film is also eyeing the Puja season.

With these promising titles lining up for release, Durga Puja is set to offer a packed and diverse film slate for Bangladeshi audiences.

From psychological thrillers to socially conscious drama, the upcoming holiday season might just deliver the cinematic excitement Eid-ul-Azha missed.
