There are 15 nomination categories
The nominees for the 2010 UK Asian Music Awards were announced in Birmingham on 2nd February at the Gatecrasher Nightclub at a special party.
After the global and local success of many UK based Asian artists, the time had come to recognise their efforts, hard work and determination to provide us with much loved Asian musical entertainment.
One name, making the headlines before the announcements was Jay Sean for his tremendous success in the USA. Being the first Brit-Asian artist to make it to number one in the US Billboard charts. Another artist who has reaped the support of music lovers is the Dutch Punjabi artist, Imran Khan who has had major hits such as ‘Amplifier’ from his album Unforgettable.
The night hosted by BBC Asian Network’s Bobby Friction also featured performances from Jaz Dhami, Mumzy Stranger, Punjabi MC and Karen David.
There are 15 nomination categories this year. You can vote for your favourite nominee using on-line voting the UK Asian Music Awards website – www.theukama.com.
You can vote for the artists in the 13 categories listed below, despite the voting window allowing you to vote for the categories ‘Outstanding Achievment’ and ‘Commitment to Scene’ as well. These categories do not present any options which is likely to mean that the winners of these categories will be decided by the AMMA panel.

h dhami hasn’t done anything that’s why!!! i think jaz dhami is better cos he sings better and punjabi by nature have done some awesome tracks i think he should win best producer and best album has to be imran khan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think imran khan is favourite to pick up lots of awards cos he deserves them for a great album and songs
The AMA awards are always important in the UK Asian music industry but why are they not done on a bigger scale in the uk we have lots of great artist but we never seem to get any better at pushing the boundary any further when it come to awards and this kind of thing… not sure why that is…any ideas?
