The 55th Filmfare awards event celebrates the hit films, actors, music and more this year on 27th February 2010 at the ceremony to be held at Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai, India.

The event is as prestigious in Indian cinema as the Golden Globes or an Academy Awards in Hollywood.

The Organisers, Worldwide Media Pvt Ltd (a joint venture between Times of India group and BBC Worldwide) are confident of making the event a major success. The the awards function will be organised in association with pan-India mobile operator Idea Cellular. CEO, Tarun Rai, said,

“When we started, we had five categories of awards, and now we have 37 categories of awards in total. The growth has been remarkable.”

The hosts for the star studded event will be Shahrukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan. Once again these two are back in the hosting seat but they have been told to reduce the amount of naughty content in their script for this years event.

The ceremony will offer power-packed performances and a dose of Bollywood masala, suspense and excitement.

The nominees for the awards were be chosen through audience poll. An equal weight was given to polling results as well as using the opinions of an especially appointed panel of judges.
