Balkaur Singh, the father of the late Sidhu Moose Wala, has accused the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government of harassment following the birth of their second son.
Balkaur and his wife Charan Kaur welcomed a baby boy on March 17, 2024, through IVF.
This happened nearly two years after the tragic death of Sidhu Moose Wala in Punjab’s Mansa district.
Balkaur has now posted a video, claiming he is being harassed by the Punjab government. This concerns the legality of their newborn.
He lamented the government’s actions, stating that they have been questioning him to provide documents to prove the legitimacy of the child.
Balkaur Singh said: “I want to request the government, especially Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, to allow for all treatments to be over.
“I belong here and will come to any place you call me (for questioning).”
Balkaur Singh assured his cooperation and willingness to provide all necessary legal documents to resolve the issue.
In December 2021, the government introduced the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act which imposes a strict age limit for IVF procedures.
Guidelines have an age range of 21-50 years for women and 21-55 years for men.
Balkaur is 60 while Charan is 58.

The allegations made by Sidhu Moose Wala’s father have sparked criticism from opposition leaders in the state.
Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring urged the government to cease its harassment of the family.
Warring said: “Bhagwant Mann ji, you are probably the only Punjabi who has not yet congratulated Balkaur Sidhu ji on the birth of his newborn son.
“Now, your administration is bothering him with its legal hurdles.
“Request you to stop harassing the Sidhu family and let them be happy for once!”
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also expressed shock at the allegations.
They condemned the government’s actions and called for an end to the harassment faced by Sidhu Moose Wala’s family.
BJP spokesperson RP Singh wrote: “It’s very shocking to hear Sidhu Moose Wala’s father’s statement in which he alleged that the Bhagwant Mann’s administration is forcing him to show documents of the newborn baby to prove the child’s legality.”
The family’s joy over the birth of their newborn has been marred by the alleged harassment by the Punjab government.
The timing of these allegations against the government adds complexity to the already sensitive issue, as Sidhu Moose Wala’s family navigates the challenges of grieving their loss while celebrating the arrival of their new bundle of joy.
