Cholochittra: The Cinema will highlight this overlooked reality
Acclaimed Bangladeshi actress Runa Khan has officially joined the cast of Cholochittra: The Cinema, taking on the central role.
The project, directed by Ali Zulfikar Zahedi, will explore the lives of silver screen stars beyond the glamour of acting.
Sharing her excitement, Runa Khan revealed that discussions about the film began last winter when Zahedi first narrated the story.
She said she connected with the screenplay and character, which convinced her to sign on after careful consideration.
According to the actress, her role will shed light on the realities of an actress’ life away from the public eye.
Runa Khan expressed that actors are often only judged by their on-screen personas, while their personal struggles remain unseen.
She believes Cholochittra: The Cinema will highlight this overlooked reality and present audiences with a more human perspective.
This marks the first time Runa Khan will appear in the role of a film heroine.
Reflecting on her upcoming role, Runa said she is determined to give her best effort to bring authenticity to the character.
She emphasised that true success will come if the audience connects with the story and her performance on screen.
On the subject of production, she confirmed filming is planned for this winter but might face slight scheduling adjustments.
Ali is keen to ensure everything is perfectly arranged before cameras begin rolling, which may cause a minor delay.
Meanwhile, the actress already has three completed films awaiting release.
This includes Masud Pathik’s Bok, Kaushik Shongkor Das’ Daafon, and Zahid Hossain’s Leela Monthan.
Runa’s recent project Neelpodmo (The Blue Lotus), directed by Elahi Towfique, has brought her international recognition this year.
The film, which premiered at the 23rd Dhaka International Film Festival, was praised by both critics and audiences for its storytelling.
Neelpodmo also won Best Feature Film at the Tokyo Lift-Off Film Festival, earning acclaim for its creative execution.
Expressing gratitude, Runa Khan said she felt honoured to receive recognition in Japan and credited her team for the achievement.
She added that awards are motivating, but what matters most is delivering powerful performances that touch audiences around the world.
With Cholochittra: The Cinema on the horizon, fans now eagerly await her transformation into a film heroine.
