"My craft defines me, not my weight."

Actress Runa Khan has once again found herself battling misinformation, this time on social media platforms.

Fake advertisements are circulating online using her photos and edited clips, falsely claiming that she endorses certain weight-loss products.

These fraudulent videos, widely shared on Facebook, show the actress allegedly promoting slimming items as the secret behind her transformation.

Speaking about the issue, Runa said she has been aware of these pages for a long time and finds the situation deeply frustrating.

She said: “I’ve noticed for years that fake accounts are using my photos and interviews, saying I lost weight using their products.

“What can I even say anymore? I’ve shared my real journey so many times over the past four years.”

The actress explained that her weight-loss story is being misused for financial gain by others, including some within the industry.

She added that despite being offered lucrative deals, she has consistently refused to promote or support slimming or beauty products.

“I’ve always been against promoting slimming items or undergoing any form of aesthetic surgery.

“I’ve talked about it many times, and I will continue to stand by that.”

Runa Khan’s real transformation was documented in a 2022 feature titled Runa Khan Reborn, where she detailed her disciplined and natural journey.

She recalled how, following that interview, she received more attention from media outlets eager to focus on her appearance.

“At first, I was happy to share it, but later it became frustrating that people only mentioned my weight loss.”

She expressed disappointment that the narrative surrounding her career often overlooks her extensive work across theatre, television, and cinema.

“From the start, I have acted in theatre, television, and films. My craft defines me, not my weight.

“After losing weight, I accepted offers that I genuinely liked, not because I wanted to become viral.”

The actress also took aim at colleagues who mock or engage with negative posts made about her online.

“I declined offers from several well-known slimming product companies and surgery clinics.”

“These same people now react ‘haha’ on posts made against me. I hope they learn to respect rejection.”

She emphasised that her goal has always been self-improvement, not social validation, and that she finds peace in her choices.

“Not everyone has to think the same way. But we can still respect each other’s boundaries.”

Alongside these challenges, Runa’s older projects are finally resurfacing. Her films Balughori and Unadittya are set for release nearly two decades later.

“These films were thought to be lost, and I was told their hard copies were stolen. I’m thrilled that audiences will finally get to see them after so many years.”

Both films hold sentimental value for Runa Khan, particularly Balughori, which premiered internationally at the Second South Asian Film Festival in 2007.
