"This is deeply disturbing and devastating."
Telugu actress Sreeleela has publicly condemned AI-generated content circulating online, urging social media users not to support material that disrespects women’s dignity.
On December 17, the 24-year-old star wrote on Instagram and X, “I put my hands together and request every social media user not to support AI-generated nonsense.”
She added, “Every girl out there is a daughter, granddaughter, sister, friend, or colleague, even if she chooses art as one of her professions.”
Sreeleela emphasised that artists want to work in an industry that spreads joy, “with the confidence that we are in a protected environment.”
The actress criticised the misuse of technology, writing, “There is a difference between using and abusing technology. Advancements in technology are meant to simplify life, not complicate it.”
She admitted her busy schedule had left her unaware of the AI-generated content until fans alerted her, adding, “I thank my well-wishers for bringing this to my notice.”
“I have always taken things with a pinch of salt and lived in my own world,” Sreeleela explained, “but this is deeply disturbing and devastating.”
The actress appealed to her audience to support women in the industry, writing, “With grace and dignity, and with trust in my audience, I ask you to please stand by us.”
She hinted at taking legal action, adding, “The authorities will be taking it over from here,” signalling a formal response to the online abuse.
Sreeleela began her career as a child artist before making her lead debut in the 2019 film Kiss.
She then starred in Pelli SandaD (2021), Dhamaka (2022), and Bhagavanth Kesari (2023).
Her 2024 release Guntur Kaaram and 2025 film Mass Jathara, alongside Ravi Teja, further cemented her presence in Telugu cinema.
She has won three South Indian International Movie Awards.
In February 2022, she adopted two disabled children, reflecting her personal commitment to social causes and family values beyond the screen.
Earlier in 2025, she reunited with Nithiin as the lead in Robinhood, which was a critical and commercial failure.
The Hindu criticised her role, stating it was reduced to “a fashion parade.”
She also appeared in the bilingual Telugu/Kannada film Junior as a college student.
Deccan Chronicle noted, “The romantic subplot with Sreeleela feels forced and lacks emotional weight, though she impresses briefly with her dance.”
With multiple projects in the pipeline, including an Anurag Basu directorial co-starring Kartik Aaryan, Sreeleela continues to grow her career despite the recent online challenges.
