Raj Kundra, entrepreneur and husband of actress Shilpa Shetty, will appear in court in a pornography-related case.
Kundra is accused of being involved in making and distributing pornographic films through mobile apps.
Mumbai Police arrested Kundra on Monday, July 19, 2021, in relation to the case. According to them, he is a key conspirator.
Kundra spent the night in custody, and will soon appear in CMM Court, also known as Killa Court.
After Raj Kundra’s arrest, the Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale made a statement about the case.
Nagrale said:
“There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about the creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps.
“We’ve arrested Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be a key conspirator of this.”
He added: “We have sufficient evidence regarding this. The investigation is in progress.”
Raj Kundra is reportedly booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), such as cheating and indulging in the obscene act in public places.
Since Raj Kundra’s booking, Mumbai Police have made another arrest.
According to reports, Ryan Tharp from Navi Mumbai’s Nerul is also under arrest in connection with the pornography case.
The pair are reportedly part of a group of 11 people suspected to be part of the case.
However, Raj Kundra is the suspect everyone has their eyes on.
Kundra allegedly appeared before the Property Cell of Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.
He was also taken for a medical examination on the same day.
Old tweets and previous interviews of Kundra’s are resurfacing and going viral since his arrest.
A video from his appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show has resurfaced, in which Sharma asks Kundra about his income and how he funds his luxurious lifestyle.
A post from 2012 is also currently circulating on Twitter, in which Kundra spoke about pornography and prostitution.
The tweet read:
“Okay so here goes Porn vs Prostitution. Why is it legal to pay someone for sex on camera? How is one different to the other?”
Most notably, however, Kundra is being trolled by netizens for his current Twitter bio, which reads:
“Life is about making the right choices.”
Twitter users saw the irony, and have been trolling the businessman ever since.

Raj Kundra is scheduled to appear in court, although the date of his appearance remains unknown.
