the officer has confessed to stealing 125 motorcycles.
A Pakistani policeman has been arrested for stealing a motorcycle, raising serious concerns about corruption within law enforcement.
The officer worked at the Garden Police Station in Karachi.
The arrest was made by Eidgah Police during an operation conducted near Civil Hospital.
The policeman, who had only recently joined the force, was caught stealing a motorcycle from the Eidgah Police Station jurisdiction.
Police officials confirmed that the officer has confessed to stealing 125 motorcycles.
A case had already been registered regarding the stolen vehicle, and the suspect was residing at Garden Headquarters at the time of arrest.
The accused has now been handed over to the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) for further investigation.
This development is particularly alarming given that it involves someone responsible for enforcing the law, not breaking it.
Just days before this incident, another case of motorcycle theft emerged from a police station.
On April 22, 2025, a man visiting a friend at Al-Falah Police Station became the latest victim of Karachi’s growing street crime.
According to police sources, the visitor parked his motorcycle outside the station and went inside. When he returned, the motorcycle had vanished.
A review of CCTV footage confirmed the theft.
Police investigation revealed that one suspect had earlier entered the station pretending to report a lost identity card.
Authorities now believe this was a ploy to scout the location before carrying out the theft.
A case has been registered, and efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the perpetrator.
These incidents are not isolated. Karachi has been facing a persistent surge in vehicle theft and other street crimes.
According to the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), a staggering 3,773 motorcycles and 195 cars were snatched or stolen in February 2025 alone.
Despite official claims of a 21% reduction in crime rates in 2024, such thefts continue with alarming frequency.
The involvement of police personnel in these crimes not only erodes public trust but also highlights serious lapses in recruitment and oversight.
Residents have expressed concern over how criminals continue to operate freely, sometimes from within law enforcement itself.
Many theft victims are left with little hope of justice, especially when the culprits wear the same uniform meant to protect them.
Citizens are now demanding stronger background checks for recruits and stricter action against officers found guilty of misconduct.
For now, public confidence in the police force may continue to deteriorate.
