It is alleged that Atif posed as a policeman to rob civilians

In an incident near APWA College in Karachi, a Pakistani man was arrested for impersonating a policeman.

The individual in question, known as Atif alias Vicky Babu, had garnered attention on social media for his viral videos.

The arrest transpired during a routine patrol conducted by the Al-Falah police.

During the patrol, Atif was intercepted while recording TikTok videos in his police attire.

Upon his arrest, he was discovered in possession of a police uniform, weapons, a police jacket and a forged ID card.

The police also discovered a motorcycle affixed with a police registration plate.

It is alleged that Atif posed as a policeman to rob civilians and extort money from shopkeepers.

Furthermore, the weapons seized from him were deemed illegal, adding another layer of severity to the situation.

Authorities have taken swift action by registering two cases against the accused and initiating a thorough investigation into the matter.

Instances of individuals impersonating police officers have unfortunately become a recurring issue in Pakistan.

In March 2024, the Sindh police conducted an operation resulting in the arrest of three fake police officers in Karachi’s Orangi Town.

The individuals in question, identified as Kamil, Sheeraz and Rao Afnan, had been causing distress to citizens by pretending to be police officials.

During the operation, law enforcement authorities seized uniforms, fake police cards, mobile phones, and cash from their possession.

The police took action by registering a case against the imposters under the relevant sections of the law.

In a separate incident in 2023, a fake police group comprising five men was apprehended during a raid at Sabri Chowk in Karachi’s Mominabad.

Among the imposters was an individual posing as a station house officer (SHO).

The detainees, comprising Ahsan Farooqui, Faizan, Shehbaz, Kashif, and Shahid, were embroiled in a string of extortion cases.

The culprits were apprehended in the act of extorting and robbing citizens in the area, and caught red-handed by law enforcement officials.

Further revelations emerged during the interrogation process.

In addition to their involvement in abduction and extortion, the arrested men were also implicated in drug trafficking operations.

Shockingly, they were not only engaged in the illicit drug trade themselves but also providing protection to others within the narcotics business.
