How Abhinav Shukla’s Proposal to Rubina Dilaik went Wrong

Abhinav Shukla and Rubina Dilaik have been married since 2018 but Abhinav revealed that the proposal did not go the way he hoped.

He explained that he had an elaborate plan to propose on a mountaintop, however, it did not go to plan.

Meanwhile, Rubina was left in tears because Abhinav did not formally ask her to marry him.

In an interview, Abhinav explained that he bought a ring in January 2017 and planned to propose in Churdhar, which is a few hours from Rubina’s home of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.

He said there was a temple on the mountain and the place had “religious significance”.

Rubina’s parents and two friends decided to accompany her and Abhinav.

Abhinav explained: “We started very late. By the time we were almost on the shoulder of the mountain, the sun was setting and it was dark.

“Our friends said, ‘We are not going any further, there is snow as well’. The snow was knee-deep.”

He added that Rubina also decided to wait, telling Abhinav to carry on to the top.

Abhinav and Rubina’s father reached the top but when they returned, everyone had “abandoned their post and gone back”.

It was dark and due to there being no signals, making a phone call was impossible.

As a result, Abhinav Shukla cancelled his proposal plan.

He thought: “I can’t propose in the dark when everybody is trembling with cold.”

The abandoned proposal left Rubina “feeling sad” a few days later when she discovered that Abhinav did not propose to her and instead asked her parents for her hand in marriage.

Rubina said: “One fine evening, I just blurted out, ‘I had so many dreams that you would propose to me. If you don’t buy into these things, it’s okay’.

“I am telling him and I am crying also.”

Abhinav then told her about his proposal plan but it only made Rubina even more upset.

Whilst telling her to calm down, Abhinav asked if she would like a glass of wine.

She obliged and Abhinav poured two glasses of wine while she prepared a salad.

As she finished her drink, Rubina was surprised to find a ring inside the empty glass.

Rubina and Abhinav got married in 2018.

The couple later appeared on Bigg Boss 14. While Abhinav finished in seventh place, Rubina went all the way and won the reality show.
