Benazir’s family allegedly lured the couple to Quetta

Another case of honour killing unfolded in Balochistan when a pregnant woman and her husband were murdered by the woman’s brothers.

The couple, who had married for love seven years earlier, were reportedly invited for lunch before being ambushed.

Shoaib Khan and his wife Benazir were returning to Quetta with one of Shoaib’s brothers.

They stopped overnight at a hotel in Mastung’s Lakpass area, unaware of the betrayal waiting for them the next morning.

According to Levies officials, armed men, including the woman’s brothers, located the couple and shot them dead.

Shoaib and Benazir’s court marriage had been a source of conflict, but both sides had reportedly reconciled prior to the shooting.

Under the guise of a peaceful gathering, Benazir’s family allegedly lured the couple to Quetta and tracked them later.

After having lunch with relatives, the couple left Quetta and checked into a hotel, where they spent the night peacefully.

The following morning, Benazir’s brother contacted them, uncovered their location, and then allegedly executed both of them without remorse.

Authorities have launched an investigation under the murder sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and are seeking the main suspects.

The bodies were transported to a local hospital, and a forensic examination was ordered to aid the criminal proceedings.

In that case, the victims, Bano Bibi and Ihsanullah, were killed three days before Eid-ul-Azha in a violent attack.

The First Information Report named eight primary suspects, in addition to 15 others listed as unidentified accomplices.

On July 23, another suspected honour killing took place in Quetta, where a man allegedly shot his daughter and nephew.

He fled the scene immediately, and authorities have since begun efforts to locate and apprehend him for questioning and prosecution.
