The woman's three brothers were especially enraged
Three Indian brothers have been arrested for attempting to murder their sister and her husband after abducting them.
It was reported that the brothers planned to kill them for having a love marriage.
The incident happened in the city of Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh.
The three brothers had forced their way into their in-laws’ home in Sagar and beat several family members, including the married couple, the father-in-law and sister-in-law.
After, they grabbed their sister and her husband and took them to a house in Shivpuri.
Inside the house, they tied the two victims up and brutally beat them. The men beat the husband so badly that they fractured one of his eye sockets.
This was a case of honour killing that was about to go ahead but was foiled when the police burst into the property and arrested the brothers.
Meanwhile, they untied and rescued the two victims.
Amola Police Station in-charge Amit Chaturvedi and Malathoun Police Station in-charge Rajesh Singh explained that the loving couple eloped on Valentine’s Day 2020 and got married.
The woman got married to a man named Puran Raja.
However, her family were not happy about the love marriage. The woman’s three brothers were especially enraged by their sister’s marriage.
They then decided that they will kill her for getting married to a man of her choice. They also planned to murder her husband.
On February 27, 2020, the three brothers forced their way into Puran’s house and beat his family members.
The Indian brothers then abducted their sister and Puran before beating them at a house in Shivpuri.
Police received a tip-off about the kidnapping. They managed to locate the house and arrived at the scene.
They discovered Puran and his wife tied up as well as the three men.
The brothers were identified as Chandrapal Singh Chauhan, Rajjan Singh Chauhan and Malki Singh Chauhan. They currently remain in custody.
Police explained the case to the media:
“The brothers of the girl did not agree to the love marriage of their sister.”
“On the night of February 27, 2020, at 3.00 am in the morning, they went to the village where their brother-in-law and sister were staying.
“They went into their house and attacked the family. They then captured their sister and brother-in-law and fled with them.
“We’ve managed to save the couple and arrested three of the culprits involved.”
