“We cannot allow our daughters or sisters to do an affair.”
Two brothers in an India village are being hunted by the police, after beheading their sister for having an affair.
Gul Hassan and Nanhe Mian were shocked to find their sister, Phool Jehan, was romantically involved with a cousin.
The two brothers did not approve of the relationship and punished her by beating her.
They eventually beheaded their 17-year-old sister on August 17, 2015.
They abandoned her body on the street and paraded through the village with her head for almost an hour.
Villagers of Bahmani who witnessed the shocking incident recalled the brothers were shouting: “We cannot allow our daughters or sisters to do an affair.
“Whatever we did is to give a lesson to the people to be alert about any such happening in their families.
“No girl should dare to repeat such an act in the area. We have no regrets for whatever we did.”
A local security reported the crime, but the police are yet to locate the brothers. They are believed to have escaped the village.
Officer Rajesh Kumar said an FIR has been registered against the two brothers: “Both of them are on the run. We are trying to trace them.”
Another officer Bablu Kumar confirmed Phool’s lover and cousin, Mohammed Achchan, has been detained for investigation.
Mohammed told the reporters: “When our family came to know about our affair, they went to talk to her brothers.
“They refused to listen to us and took her from us and beheaded her. Both of them are absconding.”
Phool is reportedly the only sister in a family of eight brothers. Her six other brothers are based in Delhi, while her parents were away from home at the time of the incident.
Officer Kumar announced: “We will soon arrest the killers. Force has been deployed in the village.”
