Pakistan has been shaken by an honour killing case involving the brutal execution of a young couple in Balochistan.

The harrowing footage, reportedly filmed in a mountainous region near Hanna, shows the woman dressed in red.

She appears to be calmly obeying orders before being shot.

Her husband, also present, was killed in a similar manner.

The video, believed to have been recorded just before Eid al-Adha in June 2025, triggered widespread horror nationwide.

Authorities confirmed the identities of the victims as 24-year-old Sheetal and 32-year-old Zarak, both from Baloch tribal backgrounds.

According to initial investigations, the couple had married by choice, sparking outrage among Sheetal’s family.

After returning to their home region, they were reportedly lured into what was presented as a family gathering.

Instead, they were brought before a tribal council, which declared their union dishonourable and ordered their execution.

One relative was seen firing the fatal shot at the woman in the video. The man’s killing was also recorded, though exact details are still being investigated.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti confirmed the killing occurred in early June 2025.

He stated that the provincial police had been ordered to arrest all those involved without delay.

A case has been registered by the state under anti-terrorism laws. One accused has already been arrested, with more arrests expected soon.

Government spokesperson Shahid Rind addressed the media, saying authorities had used facial recognition through Nadra to identify individuals seen in the video.

He also noted that neither family had lodged a police complaint. The state has taken initiative in pursuing justice.

Rind stated: “The government of Balochistan will not stand idle while such cruelty is committed.”

He said efforts to recover the bodies were ongoing. The victims were reportedly speaking Brahui in the video.

Linguistic analysis placed the accents in the Quetta-Mastung region, further confirming the location.

Senator Sherry Rehman called the incident a direct insult to law and governance.

She stated in her remarks:

“This was not just a crime, it was a challenge to the authority of the state.”

Social media erupted with calls for legal reform and an end to tribal executions carried out in the name of ‘honour.’

Public appeals have been launched for assistance in locating remaining suspects in the honour killing.

Authorities stress that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
