"They put on brown and black women who are quiet."
Narinder Kaur has never been one to shy away from voicing her opinion.
She recently took to X to call out the BBC. In a video clip, she accused the organisation of being biased and prejudiced against British brown women.
This came shortly after it was announced that the former contestant of The Apprentice, Thomas Skinner, would be participating in Strictly Come Dancing 2025.
Narinder alleged that the BBC did not consider her as a potential celebrity for the show as she was “controversial”.
In her video, she said: “Strictly Come Dancing wouldn’t take me on. We approached them.
“The producer said, ‘You’re a bit too controversial. We don’t need that for the show’.
“I accept that, and they put on brown and black women who are quiet and don’t have opinions.
“Because those are the kind of brown women they accept. That is what their audience likes.
“God forbid you’re a brown woman who has some opinions! Then they will never take you on.”
Taking an aim at Thomas Skinner, Narinder Kaur continued:
“But if you’re a white man – Thomas Skinner, proud patriot – who has got a criminal past, you’re alright.”
Apparently I was deemed too controversial for @bbcstrictly because they only hire quiet brown and black women that fit in a box.
But you can be a white man AND be controversial and you’ll be hired on the spot! Hello Thomas Skinner!!#BBCStrictly your unconscious bias and… pic.twitter.com/77xMVHxq6J— Narinder Kaur (@narindertweets) August 14, 2025
Thomas responded to Narinder’s remarks and said:
“Narinder, I respect that you stand up for what you believe in.
“Not everyone’s got the guts to do that. Yes, I’ve got a past, but I’m not here to divide people.
“I’m just trying to get people to believe in themselves and realise they can do more than they think.
“Life can be so much better when you let happiness in and don’t always be angry towards others.
“If I’ve ever upset you, I’m sorry. That’s never been my intention.
“I wish you nothing but peace, happiness, and a life you can truly enjoy.”
To this, Narinder Kaur replied: “Appreciate the reply, Thomas.
“I’ve turned up for you in the past and even helped promote your book.”
“I don’t mind that you have a criminal past. It’s done.
“But don’t you dare say you don’t divide.
“I was CRUCIFIED by your ‘right-wing’ (far right followers), and did you ONCE even stand up for me? Or tell them to stop?”
Thomas Skinner appeared on The Apprentice in 2019, and was fired in the ninth week.
While Narinder may have criticised Strictly Come Dancing for allegedly being biased against brown women, the EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal was recently announced as one of the celebrity dancers.
Strictly Come Dancing 2025 is due to begin on the BBC in September 2025.
