“Nicki Minaj, what an absolute sell-out."
Narinder Kaur has criticised Nicki Minaj as an “absolute sell-out” after reacting live to the rapper’s pro-Trump remarks.
The broadcaster appeared on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine, where she watched footage of Minaj praising Donald Trump and declaring herself his “number one fan”.
The clip showed the rapper on stage with Trump in Washington DC, applauding his leadership, holding his hand, and displaying a so-called Trump “gold card” visa.
Minaj, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago, told the crowd:
“I will say that I am probably the president’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change.”
She later posted images of the card on X, writing:
“Finalising that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per my wonderful, gracious, charming president.”
Reacting immediately after the segment aired, Narinder condemned Minaj’s apparent political shift and questioned her motivations:
“Nicki Minaj, what an absolute sell-out.
“Her husband and brother apparently are sex offenders and she was an illegal immigrant herself. Is she expecting a pardon?
“She entered America illegally. I think, as a Black American, she ought to be really ashamed of herself.”
Minaj’s comments triggered backlash online, particularly as Trump’s administration intensifies action against undocumented migrants amid protests linked to fatal ICE-related shootings.
Fellow panellist and journalist James Max suggested Trump’s rhetoric on race and immigration might be exaggerated, prompting Narinder to intervene again.
She said: “ICE, can we talk about ICE? What are they doing?
“She cannot get behind a man whose administration is killing innocent people and then stand there saying, ‘I’m his number one fan’. That doesn’t look great.”

Narinder Kaur also questioned the potential impact on Nicki Minaj’s fanbase and commercial appeal:
“Her audience, the people she normally sells to, I don’t think they’ll be buying her singles.”
Host Jeremy Vine proposed that Minaj may have been influenced by Trump’s political power and status.
He said: “You’re a pop star, you’ve got a level of fame and power and then you see a different level and you’re lured.”
Narinder said the rapper missed a crucial opportunity:
“She could have used her fame in a much more positive way and stood up for people who are victims of ICE.”
