Moni Kishore found Dead at Dhaka Home

The body of renowned Bangladeshi singer Moni Kishore was discovered at his home in the Rampura area of Dhaka on the night of October 19, 2024.

Ataur Rahman, the officer in charge (OC) of Rampura Police Station, confirmed the circumstances surrounding the grim finding.

According to OC Rahman, Moni had been renting a house located behind the BTV building.

This was where his body was found around 10:30 pm.

Moni lived alone in the house and it was reported that the door was locked from the inside.

The alarm was raised when the landlord, who was attempting to collect the rent, rang the doorbell multiple times without receiving a response.

Concerned by an unusual smell emanating from the residence, the landlord called the emergency services.

Upon receiving the call, police arrived promptly and forced the door open.

They discovered that Moni’s body was in an advanced state of decomposition.

OC Rahman noted that this leads investigators to suspect that the singer had passed away several days before the discovery.

The exact cause and timing of death are to be determined following an autopsy.

Moni Kishore, whose real name was Moni Mondol, was a beloved figure in the music industry during the 1990s, having lent his voice to over 500 songs.

He was known for composing and writing approximately 20 of his own tracks.

Despite being a registered artist with radio and television, he recorded only a handful of songs and had minimal involvement in film music.

The artist focused primarily on audio recordings.

Some of his most popular tracks include ‘Ki Chile Amar’, ‘Sei Duti Chokh’, ‘Tumi Sudhu Amari Jonno’, ‘Mukhe Bolo Bhalobaso’ and ‘Ami More Gele’.

His most cherished song, ‘Ki Chile Amar’ was both composed and penned by him, showcasing his talents as a songwriter.

In a tribute to his admiration for the legendary singer Kishore Kumar, Moni added the name “Kishore”.

This name became synonymous with his unique style and contributions to the Bangladeshi music scene.

The shocking news of Moni Kishore’s death has left fans and the music community in mourning.

His contributions to music will be remembered.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding his untimely passing have however raised questions that remain to be answered as investigations continue.
