"The officer penetrated Ms A’s vagina with his penis without her consent."
A Met police officer has been fired after a woman accused him of sexual assault.
Detective Constable Kamal Baldeo was sacked after it was alleged that he had non-consensual sex with his accuser.
Baldeo, of the Southwest command unit, allegedly committed the crime in 2021.
He met the woman, identified as ‘Ms A’ on the dating app, Hinge.
A misconduct hearing was told the pair met in Brighton on May 8, 2021, and went out for food and drinks.
They returned to Baldeo’s room in a Travelodge where consensual sexual activity took place involving “digital penetration and oral sex”.
It has been alleged that the police officer asked Ms A: “Would it really matter if we had sex?”
Ms A replied: “Yes, it would.”
The woman was said to have made clear that she did not wish to have full intercourse with Baldeo.
More consensual sexual acts took place the next morning.
Baldeo was purported to have asked Ms A: “Can I put it in just once?”
According to the misconduct panel, Ms A answered: “No, it doesn’t work like that.”
The allegation stated that Baldeo proceeded to have penetrative sex with the woman “without her consent”.
Ms A reported Baldeo for the alleged sexual assault but no further action was taken against him.
Whilst accepting that he had sex with the woman, Baldeo also denied the allegation and asserted that the sex was consensual.
On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the misconduct panel said:
“Whilst the evidence before the panel does not suggest that the officer has a general propensity towards predatory behaviour, the panel is satisfied that on the balance of probabilities, the officer acted as alleged.
“In all the circumstances, the panel found that the officer penetrated Ms A’s vagina with his penis without her consent at all times, and she had repeatedly made this clear to him. It therefore found the factual allegations proved.”
The panel also concluded that Baldeo had breached police standards of professional behaviour. He was subsequently dismissed without notice.
Detective Chief Superintendent Clair Kelland said: “Despite no further action in the criminal proceedings, we take allegations of this nature extremely seriously.
“It took a great deal of courage for the complainant to contact police and she deserved a comprehensive and thorough investigation.
“Our directorate of professional standards works tirelessly to ensure our officers meet the highest of standards and DC Baldeo’s actions fell very far below these.”
