A Lookout Circular has been issued against MP Prajwal Revanna amid the sex abuse scandal.
India’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) are probing the allegations against the Janata Dal (Secular) politician.
The Lookout Circular was issued after he failed to appear before officials following an appearance notice.
A LOC is a circular letter used by authorities in India to check whether the police want a travelling person.
Revanna sought seven days to appear before the SIT.
Notices have also been issued to his father HD Revanna, who was named as an accused based on the complaint of one woman.
Prajwal Revanna is believed to be in Germany.
One officer said the LOC has been issued at all immigration points and instructions are to detain Revanna.
The officer said: “It is a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to issue a lookout notice and we have done it.”
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced the formation of the SIT to look into the allegations following a letter by the State Commission for Women.
Prajwal Revanna is accused of sexually assaulting hundreds of women and filming the abuse.
An official from his office has denied the allegations, insisting the videos are edited.
HD Revanna denied the allegations and said:
“4-5 years old and I know what kind of conspiracy is going on.”
Five days before the April 26, 2024, voting in Hassan, thousands of pen drives were circulated in public places such as bus stands and parks.
It is reported that pen drives with 2,967 files were circulated.
The clips, reportedly filmed by Revanna, showed the faces of the women he had allegedly abused.
A woman who worked as the family cook and identified herself as a cousin of Revanna’s mother filed a police complaint alleging that the MP and his father sexually abused her.
In her complaint, she said: “When I joined, six other maids would say they were scared of Prajwal.
“The male employees, too, would ask us to be wary of [HD] Revanna and his son Prajwal.”
“Whenever his wife was away, [HD] Revanna would repeatedly touch me inappropriately, disrobe me and sexually assault me.
“While I was working in the kitchen, Prajwal would grope me from behind.”
Prajwal Revanna and HD Revanna have been booked under sections 354 (a) (sexual harassment), 354 (d) (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (intending to insult the modesty of any woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
