Indian Stepmother strangled Husband’s Son aged 4

An Indian stepmother has been arrested after she killed her husband’s four-year-old son.

The shocking crime happened on May 17, 2020, in the village of Baniyadih, Jharkhand.

Villagers heard about the incident and went to the house. They found out that the child’s stepmother was responsible for the killing. Meanwhile, the father called the police.

Police identified the victim as Rohit Kumar. When officers arrived at the scene, they found bruises and nail marks around the boy’s neck.

During questioning, she admitted killing the child, saying that the constant arguments with her husband had angered her to a point that she killed the boy.

The father, Teklal Das, filed a police complaint, accusing his second wife Sarita Devi of killing his son.

He said that he earned a living by driving a tractor. On the day of the murder, Teklal returned home at 3 pm to have food with his son.

Teklal then went back out to work and did not return home until 7 pm. When he did not see his son, he asked Sarita who claimed that she put him to bed.

The boy did not wake and at 9 pm, Teklal tried to wake his son but was unsuccessful. The concerned father and a neighbour took the child to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.

He immediately suspected his wife as she was the only person who was with his son.

On returning from the hospital, Teklal asked her what happened. Sarita confessed to killing Rohit, saying she strangled him to death.

Teklal then called the police while neighbours gathered near the house after hearing about what happened.

It was revealed that Teklal’s first wife died during childbirth. After his wife’s death, Rohit went live with his aunt while Teklal lived with his father.

He decided that he would get married again. With the support of relatives, he got married to Sarita in December 2019.

Sarita was a mother to a one-year-old daughter. Her first husband had separated from her.

After the marriage, Rohit returned to live with his father. It was reported that the Indian stepmother was jealous of the four-year-old child.

Sarita has been arrested and has been remanded in custody following her confession.

Meanwhile, the victim’s body was sent to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem. Police are awaiting the results so that they can carry on with the investigation.
