"I don't find any reason to live."
It has been reported that a strained marriage between an Indian man and his wife resulted in the former’s suicide.
The man, purportedly called Anand, resided in Jabalpur and married his wife in 2021.
However, Anand’s wife was allegedly abusive and torturous towards him, which compelled him to take his life.
His wife was apparently called Pooja, who forced Anand to marry her after she threatened to accuse him of raping her.
After two months of marriage, Pooja demanded that she and Anand lived separately.
The situation worsened after Anand lost his job, and Pooja reportedly wanted him to put their house in her name.
On the day of Anand’s death, the arguments were said to have become more serious.
Anand allegedly lamented: “My wife taunted me because I became jobless.
“She didn’t even allow me to touch our baby, saying that since she has given birth to her, she and her family have all rights to it.
“She separated me from my parents, and even now, she tortures me every day.
“I don’t find any reason to live. Mummy, please don’t cry after I am gone.”
The Indian man’s wife supposedly created drama at Anand’s funeral. She insisted that she would perform the final rites for three hours.
The police had to be called so that the funeral could take place.

It is extremely problematic that abuse from a spouse led to an Indian man’s suicide.
