Kavita was annoyed at her husband over his alcoholism
A case of murder-suicide has been registered after an Indian man killed his wife and later committed suicide.
Police revealed that the 35-year-old killed his wife and hid her body in the bathroom. Three days later, he took his own life.
The incident happened at their home in Ambernath, Maharashtra.
Police identified the woman as Kavita Pandit while her husband was named Yogesh.
After the murder-suicide came to light, Kavita’s father Santosh explained that the couple had been having several issues for approximately five years.
According to Santosh, Kavita was annoyed at her husband over his alcoholism as well as his regular habit of inviting his friends over for drinks.
Another issue in their marriage was the fact that Kavita was a real estate agent while Yogesh was unemployed.
The couple got married in 2004 and had two children. The children had been living with Kavita’s brother in Karjat at the time.
Santosh revealed that the last time he spoke to his daughter was on May 2, 2020, when he called to wish her a happy birthday.
The next day, Santosh tried to phone his daughter but her phone was switched off.
He then called Yogesh who claimed that she had gone to Parel with a friend.
Santosh immediately knew something was wrong as the lockdown rules prevented anyone from travelling.
On May 4, Santosh received a phone call saying that Yogesh had taken his own life and that Kavita’s body was found in the bathroom.
Kavita’s body was sent for a post-mortem. Results revealed that she was strangled to death approximately three days before the Indian man killed himself.
Police have registered a case of murder-suicide and booked Yogesh for murder.
Investigations are ongoing to establish what led Yogesh to kill his wife and himself.
In another case, a man named Ravi Khandare stabbed his wife to death before using her saree to hang himself.
According to the police, Khandare and Mohini had been separated for a number of months due to constant arguments.
Many of the rows stemmed from affair accusations.
Khandare believed his wife was having an extramarital affair. Whenever he would confront her about, she would furiously deny the accusations and an argument would ensue.
On the day of the murder, Khandare went to his in-law’s house to speak to his wife. He requested custody of their two daughters as he was moving to Maharashtra.
When Mohini refused the request, Khandare became enraged.
He grabbed a knife and repeatedly stabbed his wife to death.
Khandare later came to the realisation that he killed his wife. He fled the house and went to his apartment where he committed suicide.
Mohini’s parents found her body and suspected Khandare of being responsible. They planned to take matters into their own hands and went to his home.
When there was no response, they forced their way in but were shocked to discover the Indian husband hanging from a ceiling fan.
