"It was a slip of tongue."
Dr Nabiha Ali Khan recently addressed the controversy surrounding her wedding look, admitting that she ‘exaggerated’ the prices of her outfit and jewellery.
The clinical psychologist and social media influencer had initially shared that her off-white ensemble, designed by Hina Salman, cost around 1.5 crores.
She also stated that her jewellery was a 35-kilo set valued at roughly 2 crore rupees.
Her husband, Haris Khokhar, also highlighted the extravagance of the attire and jewellery.
However, after facing widespread criticism, including from public figures like Mishi Khan, Dr Nabiha clarified that the prices she mentioned were not accurate.
She said: “I called lakhs as crores because I was nervous, and it was a slip of tongue.
“Anything I wear becomes worth crores in my mind. People need to stop obsessing over me.”
Mishi Khan had criticised Dr Nabiha for showing off, emphasising that her followers and the public should not be exposed to exaggerated wealth displays.
Many fans agreed, saying her comments were unnecessary and boastful. The controversy did not end with the outfit and jewellery.
During the Nikah, Maulana Tariq Jamil personally solemnised the ceremony.
During that moment, Haris Khokhar was seen filming and taking photos of the event, sparking additional backlash online.
Social media users criticised Haris, with one writing: “Maulana is performing Dua and he is busy taking selfies.”
Another remarked:
“If jahalat had a face, this would be it.”
In a recent podcast appearance on Naeem Saqib’s show, Dr Nabiha also shared an anecdote about a tense moment during the ceremony.
She had prepared a decorative floral curtain to separate the bride and groom’s seating areas, inspired by trending Nikah setups.
Dr Nabiha had put a lot of effort into decorating and looked forward to it.
However, when around a hundred guests arrived in a space meant for forty, Maulana Tariq Jamil instructed to remove the curtain.
She admitted that her expression at that moment reflected her frustration.
Despite the minor chaos, the couple expressed their gratitude to Maulana Tariq Jamil for officiating the Nikah, calling it the most meaningful gift.
Dr Nabiha’s clarifications, combined with the viral videos of the ceremony, have kept the conversation about her wedding alive on social media.
Fans continue to debate the slip of tongue on pricing and the couple’s handling of the Nikah.
