"She should even behave like a prostitute"

Dr Nabiha Ali Khan’s advice to women to please their husbands has sparked widespread controversy and outrage.

Discussing an instance where a woman’s husband was not spending time with her, she recalled:

“A woman came to me.

“She had anxiety because her husband did not spend time with her and she thought that he was cheating.

“I asked her what his attitude towards her was. She told me that he does not even look at her. I then asked her if she stays neat and clean.

“I asked her if she smells and how many times she bathes and brushes her teeth. The woman became quiet.”

Dr Nabiha told the woman to focus on her personal hygiene. She implied that her husband’s behaviour might be a result of her neglecting her appearance.

She continued: “I told the woman that if she does not look nice at home, then her husband would obviously look at other women outside who look nice.”

The attention then turned to sex within marriage.

The host asked Dr Nabiha: “Is foreplay important for married life?

“Is it important that there is proper foreplay for a husband and wife’s bed life to be good?”

Dr Nabiha replied: “A wife should go to great lengths to make her husband happy. She should even behave like a prostitute if necessary.

“She should sing and dance to entertain him. She should become the woman he demands.”

Dr Nabiha’s advice has been met with fierce criticism, with many arguing that it perpetuates harmful gender stereotypes.

Viewers took to social media to express their disagreement and outrage, sending her hate comments.

A user wrote: “A woman’s sole responsibility should not be to please her husband, and that such expectations are unrealistic and unfair.”

One said: “Cheating is a personal choice, regardless of the partner’s actions or behaviour.

“Dr Nabiha’s advice places an undue burden on women to prevent cheating.”

The controversy has also underscored the need for more responsible and informed advice from public figures.

A comment read: “Is this woman in her senses? A wife is not a slave. She should never be treated in such a derogatory manner nor is it allowed in Islam.”

One wrote:

“I am absolutely disgusted by thinking about the things she herself must do for her husband.”

Another stated: “Believe me no one is dumb enough to listen to what she is saying.

“She literally said ‘tawaif.’ I am beyond shocked at the level of her intellect. And she calls herself a psychologist? She brings harm to people and charges money for it.”

One criticised: “So according to her, a woman is supposed to become a doormat so her husband does not cheat on her.

“This is the most absurd thing I have ever heard.”
