Earlier, renowned Pakistani psychologist Dr Nabiha Ali Khan ignited a firestorm of controversy with a statement that quickly went viral.

Known for her motivational speeches and engaging reels on Instagram, Dr Nabiha’s comments about Pakistani women stirred strong reactions online.

In her contentious statement, Dr Nabiha suggested that Pakistani women should go to “great lengths” to make their husbands happy.

She said: “She should even behave like a prostitute if necessary.

“She should sing and dance to entertain him. She should become the woman he demands.”

This was her advice for women to prevent their husbands from cheating.

Dr Nabiha’s statement quickly elicited a wave of anger and disapproval, with many women stating they felt insulted.

Recently, Dr Nabiha appeared on Samaa TV’s show Meri Saheli to defend her viral statement.

She argued that contemporary social media behaviour among young women is not too different from what she had suggested.

She stated: “You can see, young women are engaging in similar behaviour on TikTok and social media, dancing like courtesans across various platforms.

“Why can’t they do this for their husbands? This is why our relationships are failing and our society is declining.”

Dr Nabiha further clarified that her intent was not to demean women.

Rather, it was to encourage them to be more engaging and attractive to their spouses.

She explained: “A marital relationship isn’t solely about cooking and household chores.

“Women should strive to make their husbands happy, fulfilling both roles of a mother and a wife.

“When I use the term ‘tawaif’ I don’t mean they should become one literally.”

“Rather, it means they should enhance their attractiveness for their husbands and adopt certain traits that please them.”

The reaction on social media has been polarising.

Some users supported Dr Nabiha’s perspective, arguing that her comments highlight the importance of maintaining marital harmony.

Others opposed her views, accusing her of promoting a regressive and misogynistic mindset.

Dr Nabiha Ali Khan’s controversial remarks have also sparked a broader debate about gender roles and expectations in Pakistani society.

A user wrote: “Does this woman even think before she speaks?

“This is so damaging and misleading to young women. Imagine what young girls will take away from Nabiha’s statements.”

Another added: “I thought she was going to take her words back but she has only made it 10 times worse this time.”

One commented: “I am convinced that she is saying all these things to go viral again.”
