Indian Husband kills Wife & Hangs Himself with Her Saree

An Indian husband horrifically stabbed his wife to death at her home on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. The incident happened in the Bhatar area of Surat, Gujarat.

Following the murder, the man returned to his home and took his own life.

Police identified the man as 35-year-old Ravi Khandare while his wife was named as Mohini.

Despite committing suicide, police officers booked Khandare for murder.

It was reported that he stabbed Mohini several times at her maternal home after the couple had an argument. He later went back to his apartment and used his wife’s saree to hang himself.

Mohini had been living with her parents while Khandare stayed in an apartment nearby. The couple lived separately due to regular arguments.

Mohini’s parents discovered her body and rushed her to hospital, however, doctors declared her brought dead.

The family suspected Khandare of being responsible. They planned to take matters into their own hands and went to his home.

They arrived at Khandare’s home and knocked on the door, demanding an explanation.

When there was no response, they forced their way in but were shocked to discover the Indian husband hanging from a ceiling fan.

According to the police, Khandare and Mohini had been separated for a number of months due to constant arguments.

Many of the rows stemmed from affair accusations.

Khandare believed his wife was having an extramarital affair. Whenever he would confront her about, she would furiously deny the accusations and an argument would ensue.

On the day of the murder, Khandare went to his in-law’s house to speak to his wife. He requested custody of their two daughters as he was moving to Maharashtra.

When Mohini refused the request, Khandare became enraged.

He grabbed a knife and repeatedly stabbed his wife to death.

Khandare later came to the realisation that he killed his wife. He fled the house and went to his apartment where he committed suicide.

The Times of India reported that an investigation is underway to determine what happened.

Cases of murder-suicide are tragic but are becoming more prevalent in India.

In one incident, a man killed his wife and two children before himself.

The man, Dheeraj Tyagi, lived with his wife Kajal and their children, Ekta and Dhruv, in an apartment in Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh.

During the investigation, it was revealed that numerous issues had made Dheeraj unhappy.

One of the main factors was that his wife would speak to other men on the phone.

Other issues included his son’s illness which was expensive to treat and some land he believed his wife’s brothers were going to illegally obtain.
