In a bizarre turn of events in Uttar Pradesh, an Indian man from Ambedkar Nagar named Ishwar Deen found himself in legal trouble after transforming a car into a helicopter.

This endeavour, which garnered attention for its novelty, cost over Rs. 2.5 Lakh (£2,300).

However, the transformation was not without its consequences because law enforcement swiftly intervened.

The police instructed Deen to dismantle the rotor he had skillfully welded onto the roof of an old car, giving it the striking appearance of a helicopter.

This directive came as Deen was en route to have the vehicle painted, a task that would have further enhanced its unique aesthetic.

Unfortunately for Deen, his journey to paint the modified vehicle was abruptly halted by a traffic policeman who took note of the unauthorised alterations.

Consequently, he was slapped with a fine for these unapproved modifications, a blow to his plans for the vehicle.

The situation escalated as the police seized the modified car, citing the unauthorised modifications under the Motor Vehicles Act.

However, Deen was able to reclaim his vehicle upon payment of the imposed fine, albeit after a setback to his ambitious project.

Notably, the modified vehicle boasted not only the rotor on its roof but also a tail rotor, further adding to its resemblance to a genuine helicopter.

Deen explained that his motive behind these modifications was to provide a unique mode of transportation for brides and grooms during weddings and other special occasions, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit and desire to offer something distinctive to his community.

He explained: “I had transformed the car to use it for booking during the wedding season so that our family will be able to earn some extra money.

“The police issued a challan of Rs. 2,000 (£18) and asked to remove the back portion of the car.

“I have invested Rs. 2.5 lakh in this car and worked day and night to make this.”

The Indian man also highlighted that similar vehicles operated in regions such as Pratapgarh, in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Meanwhile, the police have said the vehicle was seized due to safety reasons.

The police said the car was modified without proper authorisation under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Vishal Pandey said:

“Yesterday, a modified car was seized.”

“Due to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, police have been conducting vehicle checks and this modified car was intercepted by traffic police during one such inspection.

“Modifications require permission from the RTO department, and the vehicle was seized under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

“We are investigating further.”
